The founders of Kle-Z are Marc Slyper, a trombonist in the Orient Express Moving Shnorers and his precious workmate Ivan Jullien, a famous arranger. The duet has been able to work with talented artists ready to participate to the « Klezmer adventure ».
They are seven on this journey :
*Michel Goldberg : clarinets, saxophones
*Antoine Illouz : trumpet, bugle
*Philippe Monange : piano
*Etienne Roumanet : bass
*Karim Toure : percussions
*Marc Slyper : trombone, jabberism, vocals
*Ivan Jullien : arrangements.
Born in the Jewish ghettos of Eastern Europe, Yiddish music has been inspired by Hebraic and Oriental elements, mixing festive rhythmics and nostalgic harmonies.
It is by crossing over different cultures and musical traditions that the nomad Klezmer have developed their art : a blend of traditional music and various influences such as gypsy, jazz and classical music(...)
Even if the cultural and political events that took place in the twentieth century Europe have shaped klezmer music, almost threatening to make it disappear, it is no longer confined to a community but open to all thanks to its festive character.
